God’s Great Love

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:10)

Why are you forgiven? Why are you saved? Why do have eternal life? Without the need for explanation, the common responses would be “because I repented” or “because I sought God” or “because I accepted Christ as Lord and Savior.” While these answers are valid, the core reason is different.

Forgiveness, salvation, and everlasting life – all of these were made possible and available because of the great love of God to man. The bible said: “God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him.” It was not because man loved God. It was not because man cried out for help. It was not because man deserves to live. The main reason was God’s love. He has so much love for His people that God had really exchanged Jesus so He might gain the unfaithful and undeserving people of the world.
