Theft
The most obvious act that the 8th commandment prohibits is theft. Basically, it means all forms of robbery, may it be breaking and entering into a person’s home and taking their possessions, holding someone up at gunpoint, or pickpocketing. Theft is an outright and direct form of stealing.
Besides biblical passages pertaining to the 10 commandments, human beings are also warned against theft in several accounts. In Proverbs 10:2, it is written: “Treasures gained by wickedness do not profit, but righteousness delivers from death.” Leviticus 6:2 states:
“If anyone sins and commits a breach of faith against the Lord by deceiving his neighbour in a matter of deposit or security, or through robbery, or if he has oppressed his neighbour”
