Through A Dream

Joseph the Dreamer was a very famous story in the Bible. It was in fact an all-time favorite not just of the children, but even the older ones, because his life is truly an inspiration to everyone.

Joseph’s life is a very good example to consider especially by people who experience doubt in God’s plans; people who are unsure of what their future will be with all the unwanted circumstances in life that they are in. His life teaches us things which will truly guide us and encourage us to go on despite every challenge that we are going to meet, for God has a better plan for us in the end.

     Now Israel Loved Joseph more than any of his other sons, because he had been born to him in his old age; Joseph had a dream and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more. When he told his father as well as his brothers, his father rebuked him and said, “What is this dream you had? Will your mother and I and your brothers actually come and bow down to the ground before you?” Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one so discerning and wise as you. You shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to submit to your orders. Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you.” – Genesis 37:3a; 5; 10:: 41:39-40

Joseph as a young boy was envied by his older brothers because he was loved more than them. When he told his brothers and father about his dream where the stack of hays of his brother bowed before his’, his brothers became angry and his father rebuked him. But that dream had made his father think of its meaning. After that, Joseph was sold by his brothers, was sold again to the Egyptians where he was accused of harassment against the wife of Potiphar, imprisoned for years, before he became in-charge of Pharaoh’s palace. Joseph experienced a very hard life before he reached success and claimed his victory in the sight of the Lord.

Just like Joseph, we often dream of things that the Lord wanted to reveal before us, but because it is kind of prophetic, we could never interpret it nor understand it, not until it happened. Joseph had experienced hopeless circumstances in his life before he attained success. He was unloved, rejected, accused of doing something which he really did not commit, and forgotten. But despite all of these things that have happened to him, he never did question the Lord nor blame him, but instead, trusted and depended only on Him. And in the end, he was put in-charge in all of the palace’s transactions especially when the famine came, wherein his dreams about his brothers really did happen.

In summary, the Lord wants us to realize the following things;

  1. He often reveals His plans of success for His children through dreams.
  2. He allows unfortunate circumstances to happen to us before we reach success.
  3. He often uses the people closes to us to hurt or reject us so that we can go nearer to His plans.
  4. Unfortunate circumstances allow us to learn how to take care and give importance on the successes that we attain in our lives.
